On the initiative of the Gymnastics Federation of Armenia and with the support of the RA government, the 2027 European Women's and Men's Gymnastics Championships will be held in Yerevan. Karen Giloyan, RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, says this is a significant event. The RA government and the RA Gymnastics Federation did their best to make it a reality. "This achievement is the result of several months of work. "Gymnastics is advancing rapidly and is one of the strongest sports." According to Hakob Serobyan, the head coach of the Armenian gymnastics team, the Armenian Gymnastics Federation applied to host the European Championship about four months ago. "Gymnastics is an "A" class sport, practiced by about 30 million athletes worldwide. Hosting the European Championship of such a sport is a great achievement and success for us. We have always felt the support of the Armenian government; without that support, nothing would have been achieved," says Hakob Serobyan. According to the head coach, thanks to the European Championships to be held in Yerevan, the issue of sports equipment will also be resolved, "This will give great opportunities to our youth. Infrastructure, hall, instruments, and several other issues are resolved with this. This means that in 15-20 years, our young people will not need anything. We will have a hall meeting all international standards, instruments, and perfect conditions. Everything we dreamed of." According to the expert, hosting the European Championship is also essential in popularizing and spreading sports in Armenia. It should be noted that 2023 will be pretty full for gymnasts. From February 7, Armenia's youth and adult gymnastics teams will go to Tbilisi for a training camp. Then they will participate in the World Cup rounds in Germany and Qatar. In March-April, the gymnasts will participate in the World Youth Championship in Antalya, Turkey, and a week later in the European Championship. According to the head coach, they are very committed and will do everything to perform with honor. However, the most critical test of the year is the world championships starting at the end of September, where tickets for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be played.
